Our partner CAMGEW, receives the UNIDO International Award for best « Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness - Agrofood & Biodiversity category”.

On May 15th, 2019 in Rome, Italy, Emmanuel WIRSIY - team leader of CAMGEW, received the 2019 International Award for “Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness” for developing countries. The event was organized within the framework of EXCO (the first ever international expo of Development Cooperation) with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization – Investment and Technology Promotion (UNIDO ITPO), and the Future Food Institute.

CAMGEW’s Honey value chain development project won the Agrofood and Biodiversity category, as one of the 8 projects selected out of 440 innovative technologies and ideas that were submitted. The project aims to protect the Kilum-Ijim Forest, and has managed to reduce bushfires, increase engagement in forest management, provide high quality honey to local markets, and create more jobs for local communities.

After dedicating the award to « CAMGEW staff, customers, partners, bee farmers and all those putting efforts to conserve the Kilum-Ijim forest », Mr. WIRSIY stated that « CAMGEW will benefit from the award with an improved definition of the project’s promotional strategy, ad hoc promotional activities and FFI network to gain visibility and the opportunity to test the idea in other places.”
